The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) will hold a “Shikishi Night” for the 21 and older crowd, from 7 to 9 p.m., at 1840 Sutter St. in S.F.’s Japantown. Participants can decorate a shikishi board for the new year. The theme will either be the new year (of the dragon) or their hopes and dreams for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck northern Japan last year. The JCCCNC will provide light snacks and refreshments, but participants are encouraged to also bring some goodies to share. The shikishi will be displayed in February.
