The JETAANC will host a special screening of the kabuki classic, “The Subscription List” (Kanjincho), one of the most popular kabuki plays of all time, at 2 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, 1840 Sutter St. in SF’s Japantown. Based on the Noh play, “Ataka,” “The Subscription List” recounts General Yoshitsune’s narrow escape from capture through the guileful intrigue of his loyal retainer Benkei. The viewing will be held in Japanese with English commentary. Refreshments will be served.
