“Living Along the Fenceline,” a new film by Lina Hoshino, will be screened at 2 p.m. at the Ninth St. Independent Film Center, 145 Ninth Street, Suite 101, S.F. This film features seven courageous women who live alongside U.S. bases from South Korea to Puerto Rico. The women challenge the assumption that military bases make them safe and advance alternative ideas of peace and security. A panel discussion, following the film screening, will take place with filmmaker Lina Hoshino, co-director Gwen Kirk, and scholars Keiko Yamanaka, Kayoko Aoki and Betty Kano. This event is a part of the 2011 Henri and Tomoye Takahashi Public Program Series. Info: njahs.org, (415) 921-5007.
