The National Japanese American Historical Society will host “Dream Of The Water Children: Making Black Asia Visible: A Multimedia Project and Discussion on Issues Such as Black-Japanese Mixed-Race People, Their Parents and US Militarization of the Pacific After WWII” from 2 to 4 p.m. at its Peace Gallery, 1684 Post St., in S.F.’s Japantown. Fredrick Douglas Kakinami Cloyd, Robert Ricardo Reese, and other performer/artists/writers, will present individual works, addressing the idea of Black Pacific identity that speaks to race, nation, militarism, gender and class through the histories of Japanese imperialism and the continuing U.S. military occupations of the Pacific.
