The National Japanese American Historical Society will host the “Nuchi du Takara Memorial Commemoration of Battle of Okinawa” event at 2 p.m. at the Peace Plaza (between Webster and Laguna) in SF’s Japantown. There will be musical performances, dances, and storytelling. The Rev. Ronald Nakasone will officiate the ceremony. Nakayoshi (Okinawan singing) group, Genyukai (Okinawan sanshin), Colin Ehara (spoken word), Alton Chung (storytelling), special collaboration between Kinuko Mototake (Okinawan dance), Wesley Ueunten (sanshin), Melody Takata (taiko) and Francis Wong (saxophone) will perform.
