A workshop will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, located at 1840 Sutter St. in San Francisco’s Japantown, to discuss the significance of declaring the Peace Pagoda and Buchanan Mall in San Francisco’s Japantown as landmarks.
Topics that will be covered include: whether these efforts to declare the Peace Pagoda and Buchanan Mall as a landmark will preserve the cultural assets indefinitely, and how such efforts will effect property owners and businesses in the surrounding areas.
Property owners, business owners, residents and community members are encouraged to attend the workshop, which will be conducted by San Francisco Architectural Heritage, a nonprofit organization.
