The 2012 “Japan Family Day” will take place at Santa Anita Park, 285 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, Calif. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. The first post is at 12:30 p.m. The Japanese cultural events and demonstrations will include: sado (tea ceremony), shodo (calligraphy), kado (flower arranging), origami (the art of folding paper), shamisen (three-stringed Japanese guitar), sumo wrestling, minyo (Japanese folk music), kendo (Japanese sword-fighting), shishi mai (lion dance), ryukyu buyo (Okinawan traditional dance), karate, taiko and northern Japan relief.
