The Cherry Blossom Festival of Southern California will present Cherry Blossom Fun-Raisers and Japan Rebuild 10,000 Cranes, a fundraiser for the postponed Cherry Blossom Festival of Southern California and the reconstruction of the earthquake and tsunami ravaged Tohoku region of Japan. The event will take place on the front lawn of the Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring St, L.A., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature the live performances of Matsutoyo Kai, Minyo Station, Aki Onouye, and be emceed by Miyuki Matsunaga, the progenitor of Geta Dance, a new style of performance that blends elements of Japanese traditional dance, modern dance and Japanese poetry with acting techniques. Attendance is free, but donations are encouraged to support both the postponed Festival and the reconstruction of Japan.
