So Cal: LA Little Tokyo book-signing

Kinokuniya Bookstore in L.A.’s Little Tokyo will have a book-signing event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the second floor patio outside the bookstore at the Weller Court, 123 Onizuka St. #205. The following authors will participate: Stone S. Ishimaru; David Osako and Christy Ishimine; and Michael Okamura and Deanne Matsumoto. Ishimaru’s “Manzanar Revisited” and “Santa Anita Revisited” are pictorials that offer historical captions of these incarceration camps where persons of Japanese descent were forcibly relocated during World War II. His “Camp Books,” offers a collection of period photographs with captions and information about each of the10 Japanese incarceration camp sites. Osako and Ishimine’s “L.A. Odori: Images of Southern California Japanese-American Festivals & Dance,” provides a pictorial of Japanese dance images from recitals, bon odori and Cherry Blossom festivals in Little Tokyo and other regional venues. Okamura and Matsumoto’s “Images of America: Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo” provides historical images with extended captions and introductory text documenting the development and history of this fascinating neighborhood from its origins in the 1880s to the present.
