The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California will host “Tabemasho 2024: The Joy of Matsuri” from 3 to 6 p.m. at 1840 Sutter St. in S.F.’s Japantown. The annual fundraiser “will feature culinary creations from Bay Area chefs and restaurants, including some old favorites, like chirashi, Sokoji’s famous takoyaki and some new additions.” It will highlight: “Shinji Kasahara, from Tsubame City in Niigata prefecture, … a fourth-generation craftsman whose family started its metal blade manufacturing company, Tsuboe, Inc., in 1907.” A “representative from Tsubamesanjo Regional Products will show … culinary wares produced by shokunin … committed to their crafts who dedicate their lives to perfecting their skills to produce exceptional culinary lifestyle goods.” Individual tickets: $225. jcccnc.org/giving/events-drives/annual-event/ or (415) 567-5505.
