Seattle University will hold its commencement, at which time, Nikkei former students — whose education at the university were disrupted by their wartime incarceration — will receive honorary degrees from the University Trustees. The ceremony will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the KeyArena at Seattle Center, 334 First Ave. North. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. Participants and guests can park in paid parking garages near KeyArena. There are garages at 220 First Ave. North (across from KeyArena); 650 Third Ave. North (approximately two blocks away); and 516 Harrison St (approximately five blocks away). Former students or their families can contact Junsen Ohno, administrator for the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality, at (206) 398-4283 or ohnoj@seattleu.edu.
