Located within the Merced County Fairgrounds (above), the Merced Assembly Center housed a total of 4,669 detainees from the north California coast, west Sacramento Valley and the northern San Joaquin Valley. In 2010, a monument was erected at the site, along with large bronze plates with names of former detainees at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced, California
