Nearly 18,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated at the Rohwer and Jerome concentration camps in Arkansas during World War II. In 2013, the city of McGehee opened the World War II Japanese American Internment Museum, situated in McGehee’s historic train depot at 100 S. Railroad St. The featured exhibit is “Against Their Will: The Japanese American Experience in World War II Arkansas.”
