‘Debut of The Center’s Digital Stories’

The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California will host the “Debut of The Center’s Digital Stories” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 1840 Sutter St. in SF’s Japantown. In 2022, the nonprofit received a grant “to research and analyze documents held in the Japanese American History Archives …” Scholars will discuss: “Early History of San Francisco’s Japanese Immigrant Community,” “Japanese Language Schools in the Pre-War Period,” “Issei support to hometowns in Japan in the 1930s,” “Life at Sharp Park Detention Center and its Haiku Circle” and the “Development of Japantown in San Francisco.” Event is free and open to the public, but the nonprofit requests that people e-mail jaha@jcccnc.org by Sept. 10 as space is limited.
